Practising Dutch at DIVA – French-speaking education
Do you teach Dutch to French-speaking students? Are you looking for a cultural activity in comprehensible Dutch with lots of opportunities to practise the language? DIVA organises a guided tour in Dutch for non-native students from French-speaking secondary schools through A Brilliant Story. The focus lies on experience, interaction and dialogue. The guide will talk about utilitarian objects and jewellery across the borders of all cultures and will also encourage the students to take the floor.

A Brilliant Story
Expand your knowledge and marvel at DIVA, the world of diamonds, jewellery and silver. In the refurbished permanent exhibition ‘A Brilliant Story’, you will discover the different stages of a piece of jewellery or silverware, from the mine to the finished product. See how diamonds are mined, how silversmiths work, and learn more about the art and uses of these beautiful objects. Feast your eyes on 650 diamonds, jewellery and silver objects from the 15th century to today.
The museum is located on an important historical site. After all, Antwerp has been the world’s diamond capital for more than 575 years. From the 15th century, Antwerp’s Grote Markt and the surrounding streets were the ‘place to be’ for anyone who was looking to find objects made of gold, silver and gemstones. Delve into history and discover stories and objects from Antwerp’s heyday to today. Come along and be amazed!

- This guided tour is suitable for pupils of French-speaking secondary schools
- Maximum 12 persons and 2 supervisors per group, maximum 2 groups at the same time
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Guided visits are available from 10.30 to 15.30
- Museum admission: free of charge for school groups
