Quartier Latin
The neighbourhood surrounding the impressive Bourla Theatre is known in Antwerp as the Quartier Latin. After all, this 19th-century theatre was called ‘Le Théâtre Royal Français’ for a hundred years! There are other theatres nearby and on the Mechelseplein there is De Studio – once the prestigious Herman Teirlinck theatre school, but now a cultural centre where various companies are housed.

In the same neighbourhood you will find not only the more expensive shopping streets with exclusive fashion and art galleries, but also charming green corners, elegant terraces and picturesque squares. In the shadow of the large Stadsschouwburg there is an exotic market on Saturdays and the famous Vogelenmarkt on Sundays. Your guide will focus on the history of the district and its artistic character.

- On Saturday and Sunday mornings, the market on the Theaterplein is pleasantly busy. Parking spaces are hard to find then.
