Antwerp’s answer to Père Lachaise is the Schoonselhof. Since 1921, the old Schoonselhof grounds and castle, on the border of Wilrijk and Hoboken, has been the city’s public cemetery and it has grown into an impressive final resting place for well-known figures from Antwerp culture, politics and science: from Hendrik Conscience to Herman De Coninck, from Peter Benoit to Robert Mosuse, from Camille Huysmans to Hugo Schiltz.

Many funerary monuments are true works of art, all of them reflecting a very diverse view of life and death. Your guide will lead you through the military parks of honour and the Jewish sections and then on to monumental, idyllic and moving final resting places.
