 Curious about the story behind the place where Rubens lived and worked? Our guide will tell and show you all about it. Surround yourself with technical gadgets in the intimate Rubens Experience and marvel at various valuable pieces from our collection, including his self-portrait.   

After that, soak up the atmosphere in the newly redesigned flower and plant garden. There are an impressive 17,427 new plants. From trees to climbers, water plants, shrubs and bulbs. Did you know that the design is partly based on Rubens’ painting ‘The Garden Walk’? You will learn all that and more interesting facts in this two-hour guided tour.  

Practical information:

  • This guided tour is suitable for groups of adults
  • Maximum 15 persons per group
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • This tour can only take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am or 12 pm
  • This tour can be booked in Dutch, English, French and German – other languages available on request

Can I leave the museum and come back afterwards, e.g. to go and have lunch in the city?

Unfortunately not. Due to capacity and security reasons, it is not possible to interrupt your visit to Studio Rubens and the garden. You can visit the library and shop for free.   

Do I need to print my ticket?

That’s not necessary. Save a tree and show us your ticket on your smartphone. 

I left my tickets at home. What now?

Don’t worry! Just let the front desk know. Your payment will be registered in our system at the email address of the person who purchased the tickets.   

I am on my way but am going to be late for my time slot. What should I do?

First and foremost, don’t panic. If there is enough space, we will move you to the next time slot. This may mean that your visit is shorter. 

Children can enter for free. Do they need a ticket then?

They do. When you order, select a ‘-18 years old’ ticket. That way, we know how many people are coming, and you know for sure that your child can get in.

How many people do we need to be to form a group?

A group is 12 or more people, and you can then book a guided tour. You are then entitled to tickets at the group rate. Please note: the maximum number of people per group is 15 (excluding guide). 

Can we do a group visit without a guide?

The Rubens House is open for groups on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Group visits with a guide are given priority. If you wish to come without a guide, definitely send an e-mail to rubenshuis@antwerpen.be at least 7 days in advance, stating the date, the preferred time of your visit, the number of participants and your name, e-mail address and telephone number. 

Is there a group rate?

Absolutely. With 12 or more people, you form a group. Then you can book a guided tour and buy tickets at the group rate. Please note: the maximum number of people per group is 15.

Can our group go into the garden for a while?

Only with a valid ticket. Definitely check in advance which guided tours include a visit of the garden. You can find them here. 

We have an experienced guide in our group. Can he or she do the tour (with their own audio set)?

Unfortunately not. Only the official guides of the Rubenshuis are allowed to accompany a group.

  • You come face to face with Rubens’ self-portrait.
