For 300 years, women lived, worked, and moved through the printing house of the Plantin-Moretus family — not standing behind the men, but beside them. In 2025, we’re highlighting these multifaceted women in various ways. At seven locations throughout the museum, you’ll meet daughters, mothers, housewives, maids, and business leaders — all telling their stories in their own words.

Fortunately, we don’t have to make these stories up. The Museum Plantin-Moretus holds over 200 metres of archival material — thousands of sheets of paper: letters, notes, diaries, account books, ledgers, and administration. And within all that, we find countless traces of the women who lived and worked here over the centuries.
Discover it all during a fascinating guided tour. Men are welcome too.

Monday (except on Easter Monday and Whit Monday): closed

Tuesday - Sunday: 10:00-17:00

The museum is also closed on the following holidays: 1 January, 1 May, Ascension Day, 1 November and 25 December

Is this tour also accessible to people with disabilities?

Wheelchair users can only visit the ground floor. The tour takes place throughout the entire house. The museum is a historic house that grew organically over centuries. As a result, there are numerous small steps on the first floor to go from one room to another, which is not possible with a wheelchair.
