The DIVA atelier is a place to roll up your sleeves, a space for research and experimentation. Casting techniques, for example.

In this workshop, you will craft a ring that will later be added to our museum collection.

Where can you find the DIVA workshop?

The DIVA workshop is located at Kaasstraat 7. The workshop guides will wait for their group in the entrance hall of the museum (Suikerrui 17/19)

Is DIVA accessible for people with reduced mobility?

DIVA is accessible for (electric) wheelchairs and walker. All exhibition rooms are accessible by lift. To use the lift, you sometimes have to deviate from the planned route. Our staff in the museum halls will be happy to show you the way. Adapted toilets can be found on floor -1. DIVA provides a wheelchair and 20 folding chairs, which are available at the front desk.

Can I enter DIVA with a stroller?

Strollers are allowed in the museum rooms. We do ask that all bags attached to the stroller be placed in the lockers (on floor -1). Would you prefer to store the stroller during your visit? You can do so in the space provided. Please talk to our staff in the entrance hall. You will find two changing tables in the toilets.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed, except for guide dogs and other certified assistance dogs.

Casting is just one of the many techniques a silversmith can use. In this workshop, you will get hands-on experience with the Delft sand casting method, step by step. Working in pairs, you will fill a mould with Delft sand and design your own ring. The final step? Pouring molten metal into the mould. Let it cool, and it’s done!
But make no mistake, this is more than just a workshop. After all, silversmithing is as much about science as it is about craft. What is an alloy? What are the properties of different metals? How hot does metal need to be to melt? By doing, you will learn all about metals, their characteristics, and their uses.
